This past fall, NPEA released the 2016 Data Collection Tool materials to all organizational and school members, including a .pdf of the Tool, our updated Cheat Sheet & FAQ document, and a link to the orientation webinar.
In addition, we held an NDC Information Session on Wednesday, September 28, where we invited members to call in and ask any questions about the Tool and the NPEA Data Counts initiative overall.
We released the official 2016 Data Collection Tool to all NPEA organizational members on Monday, October 3, which was sent via a unique SurveyMonkey link that allows members to begin the Tool and return to it at another time. The extended deadline for submission was Tuesday, November 22.
In June of 2017 we released the 2016 Summary of Findings. Regarding next steps:
- In order to give our members more time between each data collection round to adjust practices and implement new programming initiatives, we are shifting to distributing the full Data Tool every other year. This shift will also allow us to better identify and report any changes in aggregate trends over time.
- Instead of the full Data Tool, in the fall of 2017 we will send a short survey regarding data collection practices and will ask you to report on a very small number of indicators (e.g., number of students served).
- Over the next several months, we plan to distribute a series of targeted professional development offerings through NPEA Data Counts, including a mini-series of webinars about data analysis, best practices briefs related to certain indicators (e.g. financial aid gap), and member data spotlights that focus on learning from organizations and schools with exceptionally strong data collection and analysis practices.
All NPEA Data Counts updates will now be marketed under the banner of “Data Counts Connection,” and we plan to roll out these initiatives in the fall of 2017. Stay tuned!
