Innovative Collaborations: Strategies for Supporting Underrepresented Students

NPEA is pleased to announce that for the first time we were able to offer fee waivers to attend the fourth annual conference. The fee waivers were made possible through generous sponsorship in part by The Common Application and the national planning committee.

The Common App Logo

The Common Application is a not-for-profit membership organization that, since its founding over 35 years ago, has been committed to providing reliable services that promote equity, access, and integrity in the college application process. We serve students, member institutions, and secondary schools by providing applications - online and in print - that students and school officials may submit to any of our more than 450 members. Membership is open to colleges and universities that promote access by evaluating students using a holistic selection process.

Who is eligible?
College Counselors in the Chicago area who work at either education nonprofits/community-based organizations or schools are eligible. A college counselor is defined as someone whose primary position, or a significant portion of their position, involves counseling students on a variety of college related topics including college choice, applications, financial aid, course selection, test prep, and more.

In order for a counselor to be eligible, schools and community-based organizations must demonstrate a strong commitment to serving underrepresented students as shown through 40% student diversity and/or at least 40% of the student population on the federal free or reduced-price lunch program.
